Summit on Housing and the Canadian Economy

Wednesday, September 23, 2026

Housing affordability's impact on the labour market, economic productivity, poverty, and economic advancement cannot be ignored. Housing construction and development is a powerful economic engine in Canada. By any measure of human impact, social impact, and economic impact, the system is broken.

CHRA is the national voice of the community housing sector in Canada. Our mission is to lead and provoke system-wide action toward the right to housing for all, by serving as the national voice of the community housing sector, and by creating the conditions for community housing providers to achieve their goals.

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce is Canada's largest and most activated business network - representing over 400 chambers of commerce and boards of trade and more than 200,000 business of all sizes, from all sectors of the economy and from every part of the country - working to create the conditions for our collective success.

CHRA and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce are co-hosting a summit bringing together leaders from multiple economic sectors to explore the links between a strong Canadian economy and housing affordability, find solutions, make connections, and identify actions.

Join us for this event to learn from housing and economic experts and to:

  • create and foster connections between leaders of multiple sectors of the Canadian economy, and
  • explore the links between housing affordability, health, economic productivity, domestic supply chains, labour supply and Canadian prosperity.
