Summary
Canada is facing an uncertain future when it comes to federal housing policy. Since the creation of the National Housing Strategy in 2017, interest rates have risen significantly, construction and labour costs have increased, and federal funding to support the creation and renewal of affordable housing has decreased. What’s more, there is a strong possibility of a change in government over the next year, which presents new opportunities and threats in our work to end the housing crisis.
