Recently, CHRA wrote Housing and Infrastructure Minister Gregor Robertson to express our serious concern regarding a development that poses a significant risk to the creation of affordable housing.
We have learned that the CMHC's Affordable Housing Fund has exhausted loans available for new community housing development. This is the main program for building new community housing. As a result, any applications that have not yet received conditional approval are now being placed on hold.
CHRA is actively working with government to find solutions.
