The establishment of an urban, rural and northern (URN) Indigenous housing strategy remains the top priority for CHRA and the CHRA Indigenous Caucus.
As part of its ongoing advocacy strategy, the Caucus submitted a pre-budget brief to the federal government to make the case for an URN Indigenous housing strategy to be included in the upcoming 2022 federal Budget. In addition, representatives of the Caucus met last week with Housing Minister Ahmed Hussen, representatives from the Prime Minister’s Office, and will meet this week with the President and CEO of CMHC Romy Bowers to communicate the need for and urgency of an URN Indigenous housing strategy to be included in the 2022 federal Budget.
