CMHC updates: Affordable Housing Fund - member exclusive!

Summary

Last Fall, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) introduced changes to the Affordable Housing Fund: new program requirements and financing options, as well as two dedicated sub-streams for new development - Rapid Housing and Community Housing. Additionally, flexibilities have been introduced to the Repair stream to better support the preservation of existing community and affordable housing.

These changes, along with a program acceleration process to speed up application approvals, are expected to support much-needed projects faster and more efficiently, especially projects serving those in the greatest need. Learn from CMHC how these new opportunities impact your housing projects.

Jeremy has been with the CMHC since June 2022, and has worked within the Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic regions. He is focused on active engagement with diverse actors across the housing sector to deliver the latest and most relevant information on CMHC programs and the National Housing Strategy. He now works with community groups, housing providers, and developers to support sustainable and affordable housing initiatives in the Ontario region. He holds an MSc in Geography from Concordia University, and is currently a Planning candidate at the University of Toronto.
