CMHC’s annual Social and Affordable Housing Survey collects data across Canada to provide valuable insights into this sector. The survey results offer a current snapshot of vacancy rates, rents, funding structures and building conditions, among other measures, helping policymakers and housing providers make informed decisions for the future.

Ian Moore and Pierre Lanciault from CMHC’s Housing, Economics and Insights sector will present the methodology and key findings of the 2025 survey, along with an overview of trends observed across six survey cycles spanning 2019 to 2026.
