As lead of Strategic Initiatives at Choices for Youth (CFY), an organization whose mandate is to end youth homelessness in Newfoundland and Labrador (NL), my work involves driving forward ambitious and innovative organizational strategy and systems change work. As one of the province’s biggest non-profit housing providers, we currently own and operate over 65 units in St. John’s and are actively working on expanding the affordable housing supply to other regions within the province. To reduce housing insecurity, a collaborative approach like that championed by CHRA is essential. I am eager to contribute to CHRA by leveraging my skill sets and experience to address mounting housing insecurity across Canada through shared learnings, impact reporting, research, government relations, and advocacy.
My skills shine brightest in strategy, impact measurement, and government relations. I spearheaded the implementation of CFY’s first-ever data and evaluation strategy, including implementing our first pan-organization client management system with 100+ staff members and developing our first impact reports and data dashboards. Additionally, I co-lead Choices for Youth’s government relations strategy, which includes managing approximately $8 million in annual government contracts and collaborating with senior leaders across six different provincial and federal ministries.
