In January 2022, Eiryn Devereaux was appointed the President and CEO of the Nunavut Housing Corporation where he is accountable for the delivery of public housing. Eiryn is a visionary leader who developed and oversees the Igluliuqatigiingniq strategy for “building houses together”, also called Nunavut 3000, which was announced by the Government of Nunavut in October 2022. Nunavut 3000 is an ambitious plan to develop 3,000 housing units across the territory by 2030 and expand the territory’s housing continuum.
Eiryn is a long-time Nunavummiut who first started working in the territory with the NWT Housing Corporation in Arviat in September 1994 – 30 years ago this month. Since then, he has also worked for the Government of Alberta as the Director of School Facilities and Vice President of Asset Management at Armco Capital. More recently he was the Assistant Deputy Minister of Infrastructure in the Department of Community and Government Services and the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Housing in the Government of Nova Scotia before returning to Iqaluit for his present role.
Eiryn has a Master of Business Administration degree from Cape Breton University, a Master of Arts in Leadership from Royal Roads University, and is certified in project management.
Away from work, Eiryn enjoys being on the land and spending time at his cabin on the Sylvia Grinnell with friends and family, including his wife, three daughters, and dog named Molly.
