Privacy Policy

In the course of carrying out the Housing For All campaign, the Canadian Housing and Renewal Association (CHRA) may collect personal information.  The following policy is our commitment to ensuring your personal information remains confidential and accurate.

What is Personal Information?

Any information, recorded in any form, about an identified individual or an individual whose identity may be inferred other than through business contact information (e.g. name, title, business address).

CHRA may use aggregated data during program analysis, for example gathered though a survey or viewed as Google Analytics.  However, this data cannot identify an individual and is therefore not considered to be personal information.

Why CHRA May Collect Personal Information

Over the course of the Housing For All campaign, CHRA may use the personal information provided verbally or in writing or email in order to:

  • Provide relevant information and updates to those who have subscribed to the list of supporters of Housing For All,
  • Respond to inquiries or comments,
  • Conduct aggregate research on trends, issues and challenges and report findings,
  • Organize conferences, programs or events related to affordable housing and homelessness,
  • Authenticate CHRA members for member-only communications, and
  • Meet legal and regulatory inquiries.

How CHRA Protects Your Personal Information

CHRA only collects, uses and discloses Personal Information for purposes directly related to the Housing For All campaign and the issues it addresses. 

Use of the information is limited to the purposes described in the Policy and CHRA does not otherwise sell, trade, exchange or disclose any Personal Information it has obtained.

CHRA endeavours to ensure your Personal Information is as accurate, current and complete as necessary for the purposes for which we use that information.  

CHRA keeps your Personal Information only as long as it is required for the reasons it was collected, after which we have procedures to destroy or delete it.

CHRA maintains appropriate physical, procedural and technical security with respect to its offices and information storage facilities so as to prevent any loss, misuse or unauthorized access to Personal Information.

Consent

No Personal Information is collected without first obtaining the consent of the individual concerned. By providing Personal Information to CHRA, you agree and consent that we may collect, use and disclose your Personal Information in accordance with this Policy.

In compliance with Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation, enacted July 1, 2014, we will provide a clear option to Unsubscribe from commercial electronic messages.

Resolving Your Privacy Concerns

In the event of questions about access, collection, use or management of Personal Information, please contact CHRA’s Privacy Officer by sending an email to info@chra-achru.ca.  CHRA will investigate all complaints and, if a complaint is justified, we will take all reasonable steps to resolve the issue.
