Social Events @ Congress

Tuesday May 3rd 2017

Meet & Greet @ Halifax Central Library   (May 2nd – 6:00pm-8:00pm)

Take a short stroll through downtown to the Halifax Central Library for the CHRA Meet & Greet. Here you will have the opportunity to meet up with old friends (and make some new ones) while enjoying a drink and a bite before the Congress is in full swing.

The newest addition to the Halifax Public Libraries, the Halifax Central Library has won a Lieutenant Governor’s Design Award in Architecture for 2014 and boasts cafes, a rooftop patio, modern meeting spaces and a number of reading spaces. Arrive a bit early to take a look around the library if you have the chance!

Early Career Professionals Pub Night @ Auction House   (May 2nd – 7:00pm – 9:00pm)

The Auction House occupies an historic building dating back to 1765, just fifteen years after Halifax was founded, and was used as an auction house during that time (as well as many other local businesses over the years). Catch up with your fellow ECPs at a hot spot in town that is steeped in history for networking, drinks and appetizers.

Harkening back to the origins of Auction House, “auctions” are run several times a day, featuring menu items, gift cards and more. So find the paddle at your table and listen for the opportunity to join the bidding competition!

Wednesday May 3rd

Join CHRA delegates at our President’s Reception for an evening of drinks, food, and stimulating conversation at the oldest continuously operating farmers’ market in North America. Established by royal decree in 1750, just one year after the establishment of Halifax itself, the market’s history is rich in the city.

The current location, opened since 2010, is a mixture of modern and industrial architecture, and provides floor-to-ceiling windows looking onto the beautiful Halifax Harbour Waterfront that is sure to enhance your evening regardless of the weather outside.

CHRA Dinner @ Casino Nova Scotia Halifax   (May 3rd – 7:00pm – 10:00pm)

Just a quick walk through the pedway connected to the hotel, or a five minute walk along the waterfront, and you will find the Casino Nova Scotia Halifax, boasting views of the Halifax Harbourfront. In the Schrooner Room you will join delegates from across the country for a three-course meal, served with true Atlantic flare. Tickets must be purchased in advance with registration.
