A new report by Demographia International looked at nearly 300 metropolitan housing markets in Canada, the United States, Britain, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. The report determined that Vancouver´s housing market last year was the world´s least affordable. The 5th annual report blames urban land-use policies for pricing homes out of reach and recommends that governments allow more housing to be built in suburban areas to help keep costs down. The report also listed Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Montreal as “seriously unaffordable.” Canada´s most affordable housing markets include those in Moncton, Thunder Bay and Windsor.
